Definition: Acceleration is the rate of change in speed.

$a = \frac{V*{\text{final}} - V*{\text{start}}}{t}$

• $a$: acceleration (m/s²)
• Change in speed (m/s) divided by time (s)
• It is also the gradient of a speed–time graph.
